SCIOTOVILLE — Jase Patterson got better with age. Well, with innings at least.

Patterson gave up three walks and a run in the first inning, then settled down to pitch a three-hitter as the Symmes Valley Vikings routed the Sciotoville East Tartans 17-1 in five innings on Wednesday in an Southern Ohio Conference game.

“Patterson threw better. After the first inning he settle down and threw well. He got more confidence as the game went on. He’s still learning and he did pretty well tonight,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfore.

The Vikings scored seven runs in the first inning highlighted by Cameron Meadows’ RBI single and Nick Klaiber’s two-run double.

The Vikings scored five more runs in the second inning with the aid of three walks and a hit batsman while Payton Hayes and Meadows had RBI singles.

The lead went to 17-0 in the third due in part to two walks, two errors, Laykin Gothard’s two-run triple and Hayes’ RBI single.

Gothard went 3-5 with a triple, Klaiber 2-3 and Hayes and Meadows 2-5.
