Things were going well and then came the fifth inning.

The St. Joseph Flyers were only down 5-4 after four innings before the Raceland Rams scored five runs in the fifth inning en route to a 14-4 win on Monday.

The Rams used three walks and two hits including a bases loaded double by Tyler Morris to break the game open.

Raceland added three more runs in the sixth inning.

After the Rams took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, the Flyers answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Isaac Whaley walked, Payton Adkins singled and Chase Walters walked to load the bases. Tyler Ward was hit by a pitch and Gage Butler walked to force in runs.

Raceland got a run in the second and three in the top of the fourth to lead 5-2.

St. Joseph then cut the deficit to 5-4 in the bottom of the inning.

Ward reached on an error, Butler was hit by a pitch and Whaley walked to load the bases. Adkins followed with a clutch two-run single.

But then the Rams’ offense caught fire.

Adkins went 2-3 while Whaley was 1-2 and Clay Willis 1-3.
