The Friends of Ironton have announced two dates for Battle of the Bands in June at the Ro-Na.

The first is set for Saturday, June 4 with the second scheduled for Saturday, June 25, each beginning at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and admission is $5, which also includes six vote tickets.

Each show will feature six bands, one playing every hour, wrapping up at midnight. The hour time slot for each band also includes set-up and tear-down. Winners are determined by fan vote only and additional votes may be purchased for $1 each or 6 for $5. Voting will close at 11:30 p.m. with the winner being announced following the last band’s performance.

The band with the most votes wins the battle and will also perform on the main stage at the 2016 Rally on the River, taking place Aug. 18-20.

Bands interested in competing in either of the Battle of the Bands shows must send an email to Suzie Hamlin of the Friends of Ironton at suziq829@yahoo.com and include name, band name and email address to receive rules and an entry form. There is also a $50 entry fee for each band.

“Registration is now open,” Hamlin said. “The earlier you get your entry in, the better your chance to perform in the show of your choice and the more time you have to rally your fan base.”

Bands that do not win at the first battle are eligible to enter the second battle if slots are still available and a new registration and entry fee are sent in.

Each lineup will be posted on the Ro-Na Facebook page and the Ro-Na window as soon as a battle date is filled.

Concessions will be available in the bar area of the theater, but food and drinks aren’t permitted in the theater.

All proceeds from Battle of the Bands go to the restoration and operation of the Ro-Na Theater.
