FRANKLIN FURNACE — Just like telling a good joke, it’s all about the timing.

There was nothing to laugh about on Wednesday as the Green Bobcats lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to the Manchester Greyhounds in the Division IV sectional tournament.

“We had our chances, we just couldn’t get the timely hit. The was a lot of good defense and good plays. They got the one break they needed and we didn’t,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.

Sean Frost pitched a two-hitter for the win. Trevor Carver and Josh Karshner combined to limit Manchester to three hits.

“Trevor and Josh pitched really well. Their kid threw a good game, too,” said McDavid.

Manchester got the game’s only run in the fourth inning.

Frost singled to start the inning, stole second, went to third on a fly out and scored when Mason Applegate grounded out.

In the bottom of the fourth, Green threatened as Tayte Carver, Karshner and Trevor Carver all walked with one out. But Frost retired the next two batters to end the inning.

Tanner Kimbler and Karshner singled in the sixth and Hunter Lewis walked to load the bases with two outs but Frost retired the next batter to end the threat.

Green (13-7) plays at Notre Dame on Thursday for a chance to share of the league.
