Woman gets prison time for drug charges

An Ironton woman admitted to drug trafficking charges Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Alison Lewis, 34, of 66 Private Drive 545, Ironton, pleaded guilty to third- fourth- and fifth-degree counts of trafficking in drugs, third-degree tampering with evidence and third-degree illegal conveyance of a substance of abuse into a detention facility.

Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced the woman to a total of 58 months in prison and ordered her to forfeit $4,601.

In an unrelated case, Jimmy Holbrook Jr., 35, of Branchland, West Virginia, was sentenced to 17 months in prison with a judicial release to STAR after three months. He previously pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree count of possession of heroin and misdemeanor theft. Bowling also sentenced the man to four years community control sanctions following his completion of STAR.

Brenna Shavor, of 255 Township Road 1534, Proctorville, was arraigned on a bill of information of fifth-degree vandalism and was sentenced to treatment in lieu of conviction.

Shane Yates, 28, of 409 Center St., Ironton, was sentenced to four years CCS/ISP, STAR, a six-month driver’s license suspension and 200 hours community service. He previously pleaded guilty to fifth-degree trafficking in drugs and fourth-degree trafficking in heroin.

Jeanette Crissinger, 28, of 114 Jefferson St., Coal Grove, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree possession of drugs and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bowling sentenced her to four years CCS/ISP, STAR, a six-month driver’s license suspension and 200 hours community service. Bowling also ordered that she be placed in the Land of Goshen treatment facility before her STAR appointment.

Jason Preston, 41, of Private Drive 2824, South Point, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree count of domestic violence. Bowling sentenced the man to 18 months in prison with a judicial release to STAR after six months.

Dean Cooper, 25, of 1210 McGovney Ave., Ironton, pleaded guilty to a third-degree count of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and misdemeanor resisting arrest. Bowling sentenced the man to 24 months in prison.

Ralph Viars, 29, of 3531 County Road 64, Willow Wood, was arraigned on a bill of information of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $10,000 own-recognizance and $2,500 cash or surety. A pretrial was set for June 1.

Twyla McMullen, 68, of 815 11th Ave., Huntington, was arraigned on a fifth-degree count of theft, to which she pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $20,000 OR and set a pretrial for June 1.

Robert Kennard, 38, of 148 Camelot Court, Russell, Kentucky, was arraigned on a fifth-degree count of possession of a controlled substance and two fourth-degree counts of failure to appear, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $50,000 cash or surety and set a pretrial for May 25.

Elizabeth Walker, 20, of 8130 County Road 1, South Point, was sentenced to four years CCS/ISP, STAR and 200 hours of community service for charges of fifth-degree forget and theft.

Charles Burton Jr., 44, of 2500 Ninth Ave., Huntington, admitted CCS violations. Judge Charles Cooper sentenced the man to six months in prison.

Billy Joe Cooper, 29, of 611 S. Seventh St., Ironton, was found not competent to stand trial. He will receive treatment until he is restored to competency. He is charged with a first-degree count of rape.
