Ellis Cunningham

Ellis Howard “Boog” Cunningham, 70, of Ashland, formerly of Ironton, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016, at King’s Daughter Medical Center in Ashland. The Ironton native was born Oct. 13, 1945, a son to the late James and Effie (Simpson) Cunningham. Ellis is survived by his wife, Alice Hensley Cunningham of Ashland.

Ellis was a Ironton High School graduate. He worked as a steel worker at Armco, where he retired in 1992 after 27 years of service. Ellis was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his wife, Ellis is survived by two daughters, Gabbie Owens and Alisha Cunningham, both of Ironton; a son, Scotty (Gretchen) Cunningham of Kitts Hill; two stepdaughters, Misty (Teddy) Wright of Ashland, and Alisha Mills, also of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Dustin Owens, Gretchen Owens, Darian Conn, Kazier Conn, Jasmine Mills, Jada Mills and Sheyanna Mills; two great-grandchildren, Mikey Smith and Bentleigh Morford; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ellis was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Paul Cunningham; a sister, Joyce Cunningham; and his first wife, Becky Cunningham

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday with pastor Jeremy Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Paul Cunningham, 78, of Coal Grove, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev.
