Wright St. eliminates Buckeyes from NCAA

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — J.D. Orr went 3 for 4, Gabe Snyder homered and Wright State eliminated Ohio State with a 7-3 victory on Sunday in the Louisville Regional.

Caleb Sampen and Zane Collins combined to allow five hits and a walk as the third-seeded Raiders (46-16) reached Sunday’s regional final against top-seeded Louisville. Ronnie Dawson had two hits for second-seeded Ohio State (44-20), which was outscored 22-6 in its final two games.

Two days after a 7-6 walkoff loss to the Buckeyes, Wright State got even behind 12 hits with most of the damage coming in the first inning. After Ohio State opened the game with a run, the Raiders answered with five runs with Sean Murphy’s two-run double to left center being the key hit.

Ryan Fucci, Orr and Brad Macciocchi also singled in runs, and Snyder homered in the third.
