Rose Crisp

Feb. 9, 1930 — June 7, 2016

Rose Eileen Crisp, 86, of South Point, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 9, 1930, a daughter of the late Reuben Kelley and Stella May Boyd Kelley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Allen Crisp, who passed away on Thanksgiving Day 1996.

Mrs. Crisp attended Coal Grove High School until her two older brothers went off to fight in World War II. At that time, she went to work with her mother to help support her younger brother and sister. From 1973 until 1996, Rose and her husband, Joe, lived in Tignall, Georgia, where she attended the Beulah Baptist Church. While there Rose conducted her own ministry by phoning every shut-in member of her church at least once a week. Locally, she was a member of the Storm’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Rose was a staunch Democrat, proudly supported Barack Obama and was thrilled to hear that Hillary Clinton was declared the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party.
