CINCINNATI (AP) — The Reds placed center fielder Billy Hamilton on the seven-day concussion list Friday, opening a spot so right-hander Anthony DeSclafani could start the first game of a series against the Oakland Athletics.

Hamilton was hit in the head while sliding into third base on Wednesday and sat out the final game of a series against St. Louis. He’ll be eligible to return next week in Atlanta.

DeSclafani was picked as the Reds’ opening day starter, but strained an oblique during spring training and had a setback during a minor league rehabilitation stint. He was activated off the 60-day disabled list on Friday.

He’s the Reds’ 11th different starter this season. The Reds had five starters on the disabled list at one point.
