Joseph McKee

May 30, 1921 — June 6, 2016

Capt. Joseph L. McKee, 95, of South Point, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 6, 2016, at his residence. He was born May 30, 1921, at North Kenova, a son of the late Bryan McKee and Pauline Stephenson McKee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Margaret Louise Conner McKee; and a daughter, Gloria Jean Lester.

Joe was a Chief Warrant Officer with the U.S. Coast Guard in WWII and a 42-year employee of Midland Enterprises where he was a riverboat captain. He was a member of South Point Christian Church and a graduate of Chesapeake High School.

Survivors include a daughter, Vickie (David) McKee Crook; son-in-law, Bobby Lester; five granddaughters, Jill Lester Adams, Melissa (Steven) Lester McCloud, Jennifer Lester Stapleton, Carrie (Joe) Crook Ditta, of Houston, Texas, and Jennifer (Zachary) Crook Reeder, of Ft. Worth, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren, Anna, Abby and Adam VanDyke, Logan and Darby McCloud, Trey Stapleton, Chase and Blake Boren, and Emma and Abigail Reeder; niece, Judy (Dave) Goodall Lester; great-nephew, David (Janet) Lester; and two great-great nieces, Tracy and Christy Mae Lester. He also leaves behind many friends, including John and Donna Onesta.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Jerry Greenslait and Sam Cooke officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington. Gary Ison

Oct. 17, 1948 — June 7, 2016

Gary E. Ison, 67, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at his residence, with close friends by his side. The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 17, 1948, the son of the late Estille and Naomi Griffith Ison.

Mr. Ison was a 1967 graduate of Green Township High School and a United States Air Force veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He also worked as a machine operator for Hydro Aluminum Company. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, John Ison and Christopher Ison; and one brother, Estille Ison Jr.

He is survived by four sisters, Lucille Clay, of Franklinville, New Jersey, Loretta Parlier, of Baltimore, Maryland, Joyce (Herman) Roth, of Ironton and Sharon (William) Spohn, of Columbus; three grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Kim and Pearl Watson, of Rockledge, Florida; and other family whom he still loved and cherished

Harold Fetters

July 26, 1954 — June 6, 2016

Harold Edward Fetters, 61, of Ironton, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016. Mr. Fetters was born July 26, 1954, in Portsmouth, to the late Morris, Jr. and Marjorie Ann Scott Fetters. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Cynthia (Cindy), formerly Dodgion, whom he married Oct. 7, 1977.

Mr. Fetters graduated from Ironton High School. He was a true builder in life and “jack of all trades”. He filled his years with learning and broadening his knowledge of the world. Beyond his business as a contractor, Harold built relationships with everyone who crossed his path and welcomed all into his heart. He also fixed anything and everything. From his love of farming, especially raising buffalo, to his most recent restoration of a 1962 Ford tractor. Above all else, Harold was a real outdoorsman who loved to watch life grow from the seeds he planted.

Harold retired from Collins Career Center in 2011. He was very well known, loved and respected by the students and staff. Harold was a wise man, great influence and caring person to so many students; many even referred to him as “The Teacher.” He was a man of deep belief and conviction in the Baptist faith and attended Central Christian and Sharon Baptist churches. Most of all, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend who will truly be missed. He impacted the lives and so many and will live on forever in our hearts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, John (Jack) and Geraldine (Jerry) Dodgion as well as brother-in-law, John Dodgion, Jr.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Edgar Jimenez of Alexandria, Virginia; his grandchildren, Maia and Alexander; five siblings and their spouses, Morris Michael and Linda Fetters, Carol Sue and Daniel Mooney, Katherine Ann and Keith Turner, Anthony Fetters, and Gordon Lee Fetters; brothers- and-sisters-in-law who were special friends, Judy and Larry Frische and Stephen and Penny Dodgion.

He also had several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends whom he loved.

Funeral services will be noon Saturdayat the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Brother Bruce Payne officiating. Marcia Jones

Marcia Ann Jones, 59, of Columbus, died Friday June 3, 2016, at Ohio Health Grant Medical Center, Columbus. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Huntington. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville is in charge of arrangements. William Lawrence

William (Billy) Lawrence, 30, of South Point, died Monday, June 6, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. Visitation from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Junior Furnace Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Chaffins officiating.
