Yvonne Bacon

June 9, 1947—June 14, 2016

Yvonne E. Bacon, 69, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Columbus native was born June 9, 1947, the daughter of the late Walter and Eleanor Wilks Preston. She is survived by her husband, W.J. Bacon, whom she married Sept. 1, 1985.

Mrs. Bacon was a 1964 graduate of Miller High School in Corning and received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ohio University. She was a former employee of Hamilton Control in New Lexington and was a former receptionist with Jobs and Family Services in Ironton. Mrs. Bacon was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where she was the President of the Gardenia Club, was also in the choir and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She held the office of Clerk for Providence Association and accepted Christ as her Savior while attending Rendville Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized by the Rev. Granville Seward on May 11, 1958 along with 28 other candidates.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three stepdaughters, Susan Dickson of Cleveland, Angela (Steven) Shoope, of Ironton and Aleha (Jason) Jennings, of Louisville, Kentucky; three stepsons, Dennis Bacon, of Columbus, Louis Bacon, of Ironton and Michael (Shelly) Bacon, of Louisville, Kentucky; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Damion Sneed officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Helen Clark

Helen “Peachy” Clark, 84, of Ironton, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Brother Rock Massie officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Jean Wylie

Jean Ann Noll Wylie, 85, formerly of Chesapeake, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home in Chesapeake followed by interment of Jean’s ashes at Rome-Proctorville Cemetery.
