Elks 177 golf scramble

to be June 18 at Oaks

The Ironton Elks Lodge No. 177 will conduct a benefit golf scramble on Saturday, June 18, at the Oaks Golf Course in Flatwoods, Ky.

Fee is $240 per foursome or $60 per golfer. Proceeds will go toward the building restoration fund.

The event will have a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Breakfast and lunch will be served and beverages will be provided.

Prizes include first place team $400, second place $240 and third place $100.

Ironton boys’ basketball

shootout June 23-24

The sixth annual Ironton Fighting Tigers’ boys’ basketball Summer Shootout will be Thursday and Friday, June 23-24, at Ironton High School.

Fee is $120 per team for one day and $200 for both days. Checks may be made payable to: Ironton Athletic Dept., Ironton High School, c/o Mark LaFon, 1701 South 7th Street, Ironton, OH 45638

Starting time is 10 a.m. with adjustable times for teams traveling extended distances. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games.

Games will be played in the Conley Sports Center and the new high school gym, both located on the campus.

Overtime tournament if enough teams elect to play. Games will have certified OHSAA officials.

Warm-up basketball will be on each court with one ball per team. There will be a hospitality room for coaches and a concession stand will be available.

Roosters’ Slamfest men’s

& womens’ tourney set

The fifth annual Roosters RiverCities Slamfest men’s and women’s slowpitch softball tournament will be Saturday, June 25, in Huntington, W.Va., at St Clouds.

Teams will hit their own 52 300 or less softballs. Entry fee is $150.00 if paid at the bracket party at Roosters, and $160.00 after the party.

Home runs will be 2-plus DHH, three games guaranteed with first place awarded T-shirts and sponsor trophy.

Teams need at least four girls on the field at all times. Entry fee will be $150.00 if paid by June 22 at bracket party at Roosters and $160.00 after the party.

Shawnee St. golf team

offers youth clinics

PORTSMOUTH — The Shawnee State golf team — in partnership with the Elks Country Club — is now accepting participants for the 2016 Junior Golf Clinics, a five-day clinic set for June 20-24.

The clinic features instruction from renowned professional Bob Sowards, the Shawnee State golf team and Mitchell McFarland. Cost of the clinic is $100 and includes five days of instruction and lunch each day.

Instruction is available for all ability levels, with grade school and junior high students going from 8-10 a.m. each day. High school students are scheduled from 10 a.m.-noon.
