Rhonda Howard

Dec. 16, 1968 — June 23, 2016

Rhonda Waller Howard, 47, of Kitts Hill, died peacefully Thursday, June 23, 2016, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 16, 1968, In Ironton, to Jim Waller, of Deering, and the late Janet Reaper Deerfield. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Sue Waller, earlier this year.

Rhonda was a member of Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as registered nurse for 26 years; she devoted her time and compassion to her career and patients. She especially enjoyed her time at Holzer Medical Center in the labor and delivery department. Rhonda was selfless when it came to her family, friends or anyone in need.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Kara Howard (Nicholas), of Deering, Shanna Watson (Cody), of Deering, and Lauren Kratzenberg (Michael), of Ironton; brother, Ralph Waller (Sherry), of Ironton; sisters, Teresa Waller Lawless (Jeff), of Deering, and her twin sister, Johnda Williams (Dana), of Ashland; stepfather, Dave Deerfield, of Ironton; grandchildren, Reagan Dickess, Kendall Howard, Kylie Howard and Radley Kratzenberg due in August. She is survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, at Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel, 1501 Central Ave., Ashland, with words of comfort by the Rev. Steve Cook. Burial will be in Ice Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Cody Pennington, Colten Bryant, Barry Blankenship, Ralph Waller, Jeff Haynes and Jeff Lawless.

Pansy Cook

July 11, 1930 — June 21, 2016

Pansy Irene Cook, 85, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. The Lawrence County native was born July 11, 1930, a daughter of the late Alva H. and Marjorie E. Webb Cook.

Pansy was a graduate of Ironton High School, a homemaker/caregiver and attended the 10th Street Tabernacle Church in Ironton. She enjoyed serving her local polling precinct, working on her high school reunion committee and was an avid supporter of the Ironton Tigers. She was a long time resident of Ninth Street in Ironton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Cook Kelly and her husband, Edward Kelly.

She is survived by a brother, David Alan (Bonita) Cook, of Greenville, South Carolina; an uncle, Allen Webb, of Franklin Furnace; three nieces, Linda Kelly, Cathy (Clyde) Mays, all of Ironton, and Elaine (David) Schoonover, of Columbus; two nephews, Greg (Becky) Kelly, of Fairview, Kentucky, and David (Maria) Kelly, of West Jefferson; and seven cousins.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Dennis Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Brenda Sue Hanshaw

Jan. 10, 1949 — June 17, 2016

Brenda Sue Hanshaw, 67, of Cales Lane, Beaver, died 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016, on the 400 block of River Road, Piketon.

She was born Jan. 10, 1949, in Ironton, the daughter of the late Ruelie Malone and Ruth (White) Malone, of Ironton.

Surviving are two sons, Charles Mark Holschuh and Mary Lefevers, of Xenia, and Anthony Allen Holschuh and Carol Myers, of Kitts Hill; daughter, Cassandra Dee Blankenship, of Beaver; six grandchildren, Ashley, Darik, Jacob, Taylor, Mykenna and Annabelle; two great-grandchildren, Finley and Zayne; two brothers, Jerry Malone and Rick Malone, of Batavia; two sisters, Joyce Payne and husband Gene, of Waterloo, and Pat Jett, of Texas; and a special friend, Richard E. Brown, of Piketon.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father; granddaughter, Breea Shaay Holschuh; and a brother, Kem Malone.

She was a former caseworker for the Ohio Center for Youth and Family Development and a homemaker.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly with pastor Jeremy Simpson, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly.

 

Breea Shaay Holschuh

Jan. 17, 2013 — June 17, 2016

Breea Shaay Holschuh, 3, of Cales Lane, Beaver, died 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016, on the 400 block of River Road, Piketon.

She was born Jan. 17, 2013, in Portsmouth, the daughter of Cassandra Dee (Holschuh) Blankenship, of Beaver.

Also surviving are stepfather, Russell Sievers; two uncles, Charles Mark Holschuh and Mary Lefevers, of Xenia, and Anthony Allen Holschuh and Carol Myers, of Kitts Hill; great-grandmother, Ruth Malone, of Ironton; papaw, Richard Brown; a special friend, Emily Bentley; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly with pastor Jeremy Simpson, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday. Burial will be in Myrtle Ridge Cemetery, Kitts Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly.

 

Marie Parks

Marie Margaret Parks, 65, of Ironton, died Friday, June 10, 2016, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland. There will be no services. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville is in charge of arrangements.
