HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) is collecting donations and supplies to aid in the flood relief efforts of West Virginia.

Kevin Fowler, president and CEO of CHH, announced Monday that the hospital is working with Marshall Health, Marshall Schools of Pharmacy and Medicine and the Cabell County Health Department (CCHD) on efforts to quickly provide help to those in need.

“We extend our sympathies to our neighbors to the east who have lost so much over the past few days,” said Fowler. “The hospital staff and I have heard heart-breaking stories and we want to help. This morning we were able to get in touch with the agencies working in the most highly affected counties. We have already sent our first load of medical supplies and tetanus vaccines to the Roncevert area this afternoon. We have also sent, by way of the CCHD, 150 tetanus shots to the Richwood area. The team is coordinating with all state and local agencies to get one or two mobile clinics together to assist in the delivery of medical care for the entire region. This clinic could roll out of Huntington as early as Thursday.”

In addition, they are asking for donations of paper products and cleaning products (especially bleach); mops, brooms and shovels; crayons, coloring books and toys for children; and dry and canned pet food at this time. If you would like to help, we have step-up donation barrels in the hospital lobby for those who can drop off items. The hospital will deliver all collections received on Thursday.

A West Virginia Flood Relief account has been established at the Cabell Huntington Hospital Credit Union. Tax deductible donations will be collected through Thursday morning at the 1204 Hal Greer Boulevard.
