Everyone can make an impact

All too often, many from small towns or communities think that they could never make it in a big city or make a big impact on the world. I have heard the phrase from many people as I grew up, and I never understood why that was even in their heads.
Just one example of that phrases’ inaccuracy is Kristen Kavanaugh, a 1998 Ironton High School graduate. After high school, Kristen moved on to the United States Naval Academy.
A new chapter of the impact was written earlier this week when Kristen spoke at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday evening in Philadelphia.
Regardless of what side of the isle your political view falls on, seeing someone who grew up in Lawrence County have the opportunity to speak on a national stage shows that no matter what city or village you came from, you can make as big of an impact on the world as you want.
At the end of the day, don’t even think or let anyone tell you that an individual from a small community cannot make a big impact on the world. We should all set goals for our lives and strive as hard as we can to reach them.
