Ironton season football tickets now on sale

Ironton Fighting Tigers’ season football tickets are now on sale for the 2016 season.

Ironton features five home games including four Ohio Valley Conference games. All games begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $37 per seat and checks should be made payable to the I.H.S. Athletic Department.

Fans should include a self-addressed stamped envelope. If a large amount of tickets are ordered, please apply extra postage. The postage should cover the weight of the order.

Fans should make sure to add a phone number with their order.

Tickets will be mailed starting on Aug. 26. If fans do not receive tickets by Sept. 2, please contact athletic director Mark LaFon at (740) 532-5235 during school hours.

The home schedule includes: Sept. 16 Ashland; Sept 23 South Point; Sept. 30 Chesapeake, Oct. 14 Coal Grove; Oct. 21 Gallipolis.

 

 

‘Meet the Tigers,’ fall madatory meeting set

The annual “Meet the Tigers” will be held at 8:15 p.m. Monday in Tanks Memorial Stadium.

Also at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school auditorium, a coaches’ meeting for all coaches of all sports will be held at 7 p.m.

An athlete and community preseason meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

The OHSAA requires all schools to conduct a preseason meetnig at the beginning of fall, winter and spring sports seasons. All fall athletes must attend this meeting that is mandatory for every school in the state of Ohio.

 

 

OVC football preview Aug. 13 at South Point

The Ohio Valley Conference annual football preview will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, at South Point High School.

Teams will play two quarters. Home teams listed second. Here are the matchups:

5 p.m. Coal Grove vs. Rock Hill; 6 p.m. Portsmouth vs. Ironton; 7 p.m. Chesapeake vs. Fairland; 8 p.m. South Point vs. Gallipolis.

Admission is $5.

 

 

OVC volleyball preview Aug. 12 at Coal Grove

The Ohio Valley Conference annual volleyball preview will be held Friday, Aug. 12, at Coal Grove High School.

Here are the matchups:

5 p.m. South Point vs. Gallipolis; 6 p.m. Portsmouth vs. Ironton; 7 p.m. Fairland vs. Chesapeake; 8 p.m. Coal Grove vs. Rock Hill.

Admission is $5.

 

 

SOC volleyball preview Aug. 20 at Ports. Clay

The Southern Ohio Conference annual volleyball preview will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, at Portsmouth Clay High School.

The preview begins at 10 a.m. Each game consists of two sets. The home team is listed first. Here is the lineup:

Portsmouth Clay vs. Oak Hill; Western vs. Minford; Eastern vs. Wheelersburg; Green vs. Northwest; Sciotoville East vs. Lucasville Valley; Symmes Valley vs. South Webster; Portsmouth Notre Dame vs. Waverly; New Boston vs. Portsmouth West.

Admission is $5.

 

 

ILL fall instructional league signups Sunday

The Ironton Little League will conduct a fall baseball/softball instructional league registration from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the field.

The league is for ages 6-16. Registration is $20 per child and $10 for each additional sibling.

Shirts will be provided. Instruction and games will be 2-3:30 p.m. on Sundays, Aug. 14 through Oct. 2.

Insgtruction and games will be determined by 2017 Little League age division play.

SNYS to host annual

benefit golf scramble

Special Needs Youth Sportsmen, Inc. (SNYS) will host its fourth annual benefit golf scramble on Sunday, Aug. 28, at Silo Golf Course located in Lavalette, West Virginia.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the many outreach programs of SNYS, such as annual fishing and hunting outings, as well as other outdoor events for special needs youth.

All activities conducted by SNYS are free to special needs participants and their parents.

The scramble will begin with a lunch for golfers at 12:45 p.m. The shotgun start will begin at 1:30.

Prizes will be presented to the first, second and third place teams. Other prizes will be given for hole in one, longest drive, longest putt, and closest to the pin.

The Ceredo-Kenova Community Center Volleyball League will conduct a fall league for any girls living in the Tri-State area entering grades 1-6.

Fee is $40 per child and $35 for each additional sibling.
