SJ Irish win golf tri-match

PINE GROVE — The Out of Towners were out in front.
The Huntington (W.Va.) St. Joseph Fighting Irish came away with a three-team golf match win on Monday at the Ironton Country Club.
The Irish had a 168 total while the Coal Grove Hornets shot a 182 and the Ironton Fighting Tigers had a 190.
St. Joseph’s Rainel Lansing took medalist honors with a 38. Also scoring for the Irish were Chase Coughenour 42, Connor Campbell and Jacob Perry 44 each, and Kylie Day and Deuce Vance both with a 46.
Trevor Deere and Jed Whitworth each shot a 41 to lead the Hornets. Luke Thompson and Carrett Holliday each shot a 50, Ryan Malone a 52 and Jake Sites a 56.
Mitchell Weisgarber was low man for the Fighting Tigers with a 40. Chandler Dodson had a 43, Mason Slagel shot a 53, Trevor Hacker carded a 54 while Jake Thomas added a 58 and Tyler Shelton a 59.
Ironton hosted a four-team match on Wednesday and will play South Point at Sugarwood next Wednesday.
