Michigan had surprise inspiration behind win

I sees the sports media is givin’ Jim Harbaugh and Michigan a bunch of attention after their lopsided 63-3 win last week over Hawaii.

A lot of Michigan’s success came after Harbaugh’s pre-game speech that would never be confused with “Win One For The Gipper.” Since they were playin’ Hawaii, Harbaugh’s inspiration came from one of their fans.

There was a Wisconsin fan, a Michigan State fan and the Michigan fan stranded on an island for several years. While walkin’ on the beach one day, the Wisconsin fan just happened to kick a bottle and he rubbed it tryin’ to see what was written on it.

A genie appeared and said he could only grant three wishes so each fan would get one.

The Wisconsin fan said, “I have been stuck here for years. I miss my family and I want to go home.” The genie said, “Granted,” and POOF the fan was gone.

The Michigan State fan said, “I have been stuck here for years, too. I miss my family and I want to go home.” The genie said, “Granted,” and POOF the fan was gone.

The Michigan fan began to cry and the genie asked, “What’s the matter?” The Michigan fan said, “I’m so lonely and sad now. I wish my friends were here.”

Wonder if Michigan will accept an Aloha Bowl bid?

Ennywho, last week I wuz 14-2 to bring the season mark to 27-4 which is a good .871 percentage. However, this week gits purdy tough with some even matchups. Oh well, here goes.

Ironton at Fairland: A couple of 0-2 teams git together to see who gits their first win. Ironton 21, Fairland 14.

Coal Grove at Portsmouth West: The Hornets’ backfield reminds me of a famous writer: O’Henry. That’s what other teams say after tryin’ to stop Tanner Henry. Coal Grove 28, Portsmouth West 20.

Oak Hill at Rock Hill: They say this is the Battle of the Hill. I say it’s gonna be makin’ a mountain out of a mole hill. Rock Hill 36, Oak Hill 12.

Symmes Valley at Chesapeake: With the Panthers’ defense playin’ the way it has, “The Backyard Brawl” could become the “Backyard Wall.” Chesapeake 26. Symmes Valley 7.

River Valley at South Point: The Pointers keep hangin’ in there but the injuries is startin’ to mount. River Valley 24, South Point 14.

Green at Meigs Eastern: Hey Bobcat fans. Git on the road and watch as yer team goes to 3-0. Green 26, Eastern 12.

OTHERS: Pt. Pleasant over Gallipolis; Wheelersburg over Portsmouth; Russell over Ashland; Portsmouth Notre Dame over Grove City Christian; Sciotoville East over Alexander; Paint Valley over Minford; Lucasville Valley over Piketon; Waverly over Unioto; Southeastern over Beaver Eastern.
