Gallipolis entrepreneur opens insurance agency in Proctorville

A new Allstate agency has been operating in Proctorville since May.

“It’s been good,” agent Jeremy Dewitt, of Gallipolis, says of business at his location, at a Proctorville address on Ohio Route 7 near Athalia.

Dewitt bought the agency and took over existing contracts from Ritch Coe of Gallipolis.

Offering home, life and auto insurance, the business, which employs four, serves customers in two states.

“Ohio and West Virginia,” Dewitt said. “We’re licensed in both states. We’re primarily Ohio, but we do both.”

He said auto insurance makes up the bulk of his business.

“Because it’s mandated by state law, and it’s advertised harder,” he said.

Dewitt said he has been working in the insurance industry for more than nine years, having started with New York Life.

This is his first effort at owning his own agency.

“I am excited about opening my own small business,” DeWitt said. “My knowledge and understanding of the people here will help me provide customers with an outstanding level of service. I am looking forward to making a difference in a different sort of way; by serving customers and taking care of a family’s insurance needs.”
