A full month of fright is planned for the Ro-Na Theater in Ironton, as Dr. DeKay’s House of Screams returns for another year.

Every Friday and Saturday night in October, from 7 p.m.-midnight, the theater will be turned into a haunted attraction as DeKay and his minions take over the theater.

Suzie Hamlin, of the Friends of Ironton, who produce the “Dr. DeKay attraction,” said all funds raised will go into the continued restoration of the Ro-Na. She said so far, they have received many compliments.

“The thrills will scare you out of your shoes, literally,” she said. “The first year, we had a girl run out of here so fast she left a shoe behind. She never came back for it.”

Hamlin said the shoe is kept in a case, greeting visitors with the slogan printed on it.

The attraction, which has been going on for a few years, features a cast of locals in the roles. It takes about 30-45 minutes to go through it, Hamlin said.

She said changes will occur to the haunted house several times throughout the month, so there will be something new for repeat visitors.

Admission is $10 per person. Refreshments will be offered at the theater.

More information can be found at www.ro-na.net and on the theater’s Facebook page.
