CHESAPEAKE — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers went from a loss in four to a win in three.
The Lady Tigers lost an Ohio Valley Conference volleyball game against the Chesapeake Lady Panthers in four sets earlier this season.
On Thursday, Ironton turned the tables and won in straight sets, 25-22, 25-14, 25-10.
“It was a great team effort. Everyone contributed to the win,” said Ironton coach Beth Campbell.
A key stat for Ironton was 52 digs on the night by the combined efforts of Ali White, Alyssia Rowe, D’Laynie Keith, Lexi Wise, Alyssa Lewis, Rylie Vaughn and Emma Blankenship.
“They were not letting anything hit the floor. They were on a mission to get the ‘W’ and they answered,” said Campbell.
Keith scored nine points, Vaughn eight, and Kenzie Cremeens, Wise and Zakia Lee seven each to pace the offense. Lewis added six and White two.
The Lady Panthers’ Karli Davis had five points and Rachel Pratt four to pace their offense.
At the net, Wise had eight kills, Lee six and Keith four. Lewis racked up 23 assists. Lee knocked down 10 blocks and Cremeens five.
In the reserve game, Ironton won in two sets, 25-19, 25-21.
Shay Cox had 11 points including five aces to lead Ironton. Peighton Rowe and Demi Sands scored seven each.
Chesapeake was paced by Corinne Ferguson with nine points, Jordan Stormes had eight and Chloe Handley added six.
The Lady Tigers end the regular season next week with home games on Tuesday against Division II No. 8-ranked Gallipolis and on Thursday against Rock Hill in a varsity-only game.
