Peyton Adkins wasn’t about to keep this performance under his hat.
Adkins’ hat trick helped lead the St. Joseph Flyers to a 5-0 shutout of the New Boston Tigers on Monday.
“Peyton had a good night and we possessed the ball and played well as a team from back to front,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra.
“I have to give a shout out to our goalkeeper and defensive backs. They played hard, smart and together.”
Defensive backs Daniel Hodges, Chase Walters, Clay Willis, Blake McKee and T.J. Stone helped goalie Bradley Rist register nine saves in getting the shutout.
St. Joseph is now 12-2-1 after posting their seventh shutout of the season.
Besides Adkins’ three goals, Tre Neal and Blake Balestra each scored a goal while Isaac Whaley, Zach Roach, Zac McGraw and Balestra all had an assist.
St. Joseph had 22 shots on goal with nine corner kicks, five fouls, four handball penalties and one offside.
New Boston finished with 14 shots, three corner kicks, eight fouls, one handball penalty and one offside.
The Tigers’ goalkeeper Brandon Ruggles was a bright spot with seven saves.
St. Joseph visits Northwest on Thursday in the final regular season game.
