Leaders must work together

Election night and early morning have come and gone for the 2016 General Election, and the results have been unofficially tabulated and declared for those charged with leading our county, state and country.

As with any election cycle, there will always be a part of the population that is happy, and one part that is dissatisfied.

However, while incumbents and newcomers across the country were elected, now the most vital part of our democracy is to come together and work alongside one another to reach a common goal to allow our communities and country to prosper.

Races were hard-fought, from the smallest local office up to the presidency, but it will be critical for each of those who are now leaders to find ways to work across the aisle.

Does this mean that everyone has to agree on everything or do nothing? Not by a long shot. It will be equally as important for each side of an issue or piece of legislation to accurately represent those who elected them into office.

In the end, we have to understand that many of the decisions to be made in the next four years will have not only an impact on our lives, but also the lives of our children and grandchildren in future generations.
