Josephine Fleites

Josephine “Fifa” Fleites, 92, of Kendall, Florida, formerly of Ironton, passed peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 23, 2016. She was born on July 6, 1924, in Camagüey, Cuba. She was the youngest of 12 children.
She married Dr. Jose Onelio Fleites in 1944 and lived in Santa Clara, Cuba. They were married for 63 years. They had three children, Jose, Jr., Lourdes and Alina. In 1961, they made the decision to send their then 11, 10 and 5-year old children to the United States. They were reunited a year later, and eventually settled in Ironton, where they happily lived for 20 years until retiring to Miami.
She is survived by her two daughters; and their husbands, Hugh Ladd and Michael Hurley; six grandchildren, Hugh, Matthew, Ryan, Christina, Adriane and Mallory; her 11 nieces and nephews, including, Gloria Gasset, Celia Villafana, Gisela Tedone, Sandra Bandin, Armando Fleites, Martin Tunon and Eradio Gomez; her nine great-great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Christian, Hayden, Cecilia, Leonardo, Connor, Giuliana, Madison, Josephine and Gabriella; and finally, her dog, Rocky.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The University of Toledo Foundation, Driscoll Center, The Jose O. Fleites, Jr. Student Scholarship Fund, 2801 West Bancroft Street, Toledo, OH 43606-3395. Services are scheduled for Wednesday in Miami.

Curtis Webb

March 12, 1986 — Nov. 26, 2016

Curtis Phillip Webb, 48, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, formerly of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at his residence.
The Lawrence County native was born March 12, 1968, the son of the late Mary Phyllis Torgrimson Webb and Thomas C. Webb (Janet), of Ironton.
Curtis was a 1986 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and also attended Ashland Vocational Schools. He was a radiation director of ships for Newport News Shipyard in Virginia. He enjoyed volleyball, gardening, cats and dogs. He was an avid line dancer and a member of the Columbus Stompers as well as the OtherSiders.
In addition to his mother, Curtis was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Mary and Phil Torgrimson; and paternal grandparents, Curtis and Earley Chapman Webb.
In addition to his father and stepmother, he is survived by four sisters, Sherrill (Tom) Twiss, of Columbus, Marta (Brian) Taylor, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Bridgette (Bernard) Wallace, of Ironton, and Bethany (Raymond) Justice, of Hindman, Kentucky; friend, Orion Hamby, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; aunt, Karen Delaney, of Lexington, Kentucky; two cousins, Marsha Delaney, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Greg (Kathy) Hankins, of Harelock, North Carolina; and several other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Marijane Kazee Littlejohn, 63, of Patriot, passed away, Nov. 27, 2016, at Holzer Senior Care Center in Bidwell. Mrs. Littlejohn was born June 2, 1953, a daughter to Billy Martin Kazee and the late Betty Lou Boggs Kazee. She is survived by her husband, Wes Littlejohn, whom she married Oct. 2, 2002.
Mrs. Littlejohn was a 1971 graduate of Ironton High School. She was a billing clerk for Family Oxygen Medical in Gallipolis and a member of Sharon Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Gerald and Glenn Kazee; and her beloved dog, Maggie.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Jon (Michelle) Cook, of Chesapeake; sister, Patty (Terry) Hammond, of Flagler Beach, Florida; brother, Rick (Pam) Kazee, of Marina del Ray, California; brother-in-law, Bill (Patricia) Littlejohn, of Kitts Hill; and a host of friends and family who will miss her.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturdayat the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor James Snyder officiating. Jeanie Rife

Jeanie R. Rife, 78, of Grover, North Carolina, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Testa Family Hospice House, Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, with pastor Greg Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller. Gladys Bryant

Aug. 9, 1928 — Nov. 18, 2016

Gladys “Lucille” Bryant, matriarch of the Bryant family, passed away on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, in Chillicothe at the age of 88. She was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Cedar Grove, West Virginia, daughter of the late Margaret Harkless Lively Bowman and William Lively.
Lucille Lively Bowman and Jack Bryant Jr. met in Superior and were married on Dec. 11, 1951. They were parents to eight children, James Robert (Jimmy), who died in Vietnam in 1972, John Paul (Kathy), of Conway Arkansas, Mary Ann Hunt, of Hanging Rock, Tammy (Don) Bolden, of Jackson, Gary Lee, who died April 4, 2009, Kathy (Kitty), of Wheelersburg, William M. (Bill), of Ironton, and James Richard (Leesa), of Greenbrier, Arkansas. She is also survived by special cousin, Jayne Bowman, of Zanesville.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Jr.; brother, William Bowman, who died in Vietnam 1966; sister, Lena Bowman; grandson, Shawn Bryant; and most recently, son, John Paul, who died Nov. 23, 2016. Lucille was grandmother (mamaw, granny) to 13 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to 22 great-grandchildren. She lived most of her life in Ironton, and also a time in Jackson and Conway, Arkansas. She lived the past six months in Jackson with her daughter, Tammy. Lucille never met a stranger and would talk to anyone, and did. She was loved by so many. She will be greatly missed and loved always. One of her favorite lines to say when people were leaving was, “Glad you got to see me,” which will continue on.
