Judy Wilson

Aug. 16, 1950 — Dec. 31, 2016

Judy Kay Wilson, 66, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 16, 1950, a daughter of the late Rev. Ogle and Gwendolyn Stapleton Shope.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, George Wilson, whom she married Jan. 16, 1967.
Mrs. Wilson attended Rock Hill Schools and was a homemaker. She attended the City Mission Church in Ironton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Ann Wilson; one son, George Wilson; two brothers, Ogle Lee Shope Jr. and Ogle Linn Shope; and three sisters, Janet Morrow, Easter Jenkins and Bonnie Jenkins.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Angela (David) Cooper, Libby (Fred) White, all of Ironton, and Robin (Butch Corns) Wilson, of Garrison, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Cody Matthew Pizelli, Alyssa Wilson Cade, David Cooper, Kiplyn Cooper, Rachel Bazell, Eric Bazell, Brianna Cooper and Diandra Roach; seven great-grandchildren, Riley Cade, Tristan Cade, Jillian Bazell Colyer, Anya Cooper, Edward Bazell, Jared Bazell and Jace Cade; three brothers, Tom (Jean) Shope, the Rev. Harry “Mack” (Margie) Shope and William  (Minnie) Shope, all of Pedro; and one sister, Barbara (Charlie) Robinson, of Ironton.
Funeral services will be noon Thursday at the City Mission Church with the Revs. James Cremeans, Jeff Cremeans and Leon Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, and 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church. Donald Christian

July 29, 1927 — Dec. 31, 2016

Donald Eugene “Don” Christian, 89, of Ironton, passed into Heaven Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at the home of his daughter, Debbie and Ralph Daugherty. Don was born July 29, 1927, in Ironton to the late Walter “Jack” and Virginia Chinn Christian. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Gloria S. Walker Christian, who passed away Sept. 8, 1993.
Don attended Ironton High School and joined the Army at the age of 17, a Veteran of the Second World War, spending most of that time in Germany. He was employed at the C&O/CSX Railroad Carshops as a welder, retiring in 1988 after 38 years of service. He loved children, riding horses, reading and crossword puzzles. He attended the City Mission Church in Ironton. Don was called “Bluedog” by many friends and “Blue Eyes” by those who loved his beautiful blue eyes. He was a very witty man who loved to make those around him laugh.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna J. Stevens; grandchildren, Gloria Dawn Stevens and Nichole Lee Stevens; a sister, Annabell Harmon; four brothers, Lawrence “Ted”, Walter “Wad”, Ken and Ralph; sons-in-law, Eddie Lunsford and B.J. Bryant; and mother-in-law, Julia Peck.
He is survived by daughters who proudly call him Daddy, Debbie (Ralph) Daugherty, Robin (Rick) Townsend, all of Ironton, Anita Bryant, of Columbus, and Heather (Jesse) Lands, of Proctorville.
He is Papaw to Wendy (Tim) Davidson, Scott (Michelle) Lunsford, Hollie (Mike) Summers, J.T. McLain, Autumn Lands, Sarah Stevens, and Kelli McGlumphy; great-grandchildren, Bradley and Brock Bollinger, Brigham Davidson, Christian and Hannah Lunsford, Brice and Jerry Lavender, Ethan Stevens, Kevin and Austin Caldwell, Charlie and Maddie McGlumphy.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a special friend, Juanita Christian
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and grandsons. Patty L. Wade, 78, of Proctorville, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, in Huntington. Carla Jo Hankins, 49, of Ironton, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at her residence.

Carol Jean Hampton Destocki, 74, of Ironton, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at SOMC Hospital in Portsmouth. Her children have entrusted their mothers care to their friends at Brown Funeral Chapel.
