Elihu Cox

Feb. 13, 1991 — Dec. 29, 2016

Elihu “Eli” David Cox, 25, of Pedro, passed away Dec. 29, 2016, at his residence. The Ironton native was born Feb. 13, 1991, the son of Bobby Joe and Bobbie Dawn Jiles Cox, of Pedro.
Eli attended Rock Hill High School and was a former employee of Fout’s Steel Company. He enjoyed four wheeling, hunting, fishing and loved to trade and be with friends. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Charles Estill Cox and Sophia Fields Cox; and maternal grandfather, James David Jiles.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Callie June Hamlin, of Chesapeake; a brother, Joseph A. (Jamie) Cox, of Ironton; a sister, Amber Cox, of Ironton; a niece, Emma Boggs, of Pedro; a nephew, Tucker Boggs, of Pedro; two very special little girls, Kassidy Lynn Pennington, of Kitts Hill, and Mollie Crance, of Chesapeake; his maternal grandmother, Beatrice Jiles, of Pedro; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jesse Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in the Cox-Jiles Family Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Matthew Walters

Matthew Timothy Walters, 33, of Ironton, passed away Dec. 26, 2016, in Huntington, West Virginia. The Ironton native was born March 22, 1983, a son of Timothy Joseph and Paula Wells Walters of Ironton.
Matthew was a 2001 graduate of St. Joseph High School and attended Marshall University. He had a passion for music and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Raymond Wells; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Jeanne Lindner Walters; an uncle, Thomas “Tom” Wells; and an aunt, Donna Wells Douglas.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Michael Joseph Walters, of Ironton; his longtime girlfriend that he loved deeply, Jennifer “Jen” Squires, of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; a nephew, Gavin Joseph Walters; maternal grandmother, Mary Wells, of Ironton; five aunts, Georgia Wells, of Stuttgart, Arkansas, Elizabeth “Beth” (Steven) Smith, of Grove City, Christina “Tina” (Jeff) Jenkins, of Cabot, Arkansas, Teresa Walters, of Columbus, and Emily (Ronnie) Littlejohn, of Ironton; three uncles, Larry “Tank” Wells, of Ironton, John Douglas, of Coal Grove, and William “Bill” (Debbie) Walters, of Ironton; and many cousins and friends.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery and visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton. Gregory Suiter

July 12, 1975 — Jan. 3, 2017

Gregory Preston Suiter, 41, of South Point, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at the Sanctuary at Ohio Valley. Gregory was born on July 12, 1975, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Sammy K. Suiter, Sr. and the late Linda G. White Suiter. He was an EMT for the Portsmouth Ambulance Service.
A visitation will be conducted from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Reger Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at a later date.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Suiter; his father, Sammy Suiter, Sr.; four daughters, Breanna Suiter, Savannah Suiter, Destiny Centers and Cheyenne Roberts; one brother and sister-in-law, Sammy (Julie) Suiter, Jr.; a niece, Melissa Hay; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mickey Blake

Mickey Blake, 76, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, Jan. 1, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife.

Wanda Lee Holbrook Gillum, 85, of South Point, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. Wilma Arthur Castle,76, of Ashland, Kentucky, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Castle.
