PORTSMOUTH — One of the descriptions for a titan is “impressive.”
That’s what the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans were on Wednesday as they downed the St. Joseph Female Flyers 55-25.
Notre Dame had 10 different players score as they built a big first half lead en route to the win.
“They are a very good team. They took control of the game from the opening tip,” said Female Flyers’ coach Nick Miller.
Hagen Schaefer scored 12 points and Katie Dettwiller had 10 to lead the balanced Lady Titans.
Morgan Turner scored a game-high 13 points for the Female Flyers (5-8). She also had three steals and two assists.
Alyson Johnson had five rebounds with Lauren Bush and Megan Riley getting three each for St. Joseph.
Schaefer scored seven points and Notre Dame took a 21-4 first quarter lead.
Lexi Smith, Dettwiller and Schaefer combined for nine points in the second quarter as the lead went to 34-9. Turner had all five of St. Joseph’s points.
Turner had five more points in the third quarter and it was 42-16. Grace Miller had four points and Turner added three in the fourth quarter for the Female Flyers.
St. Joseph struggled from the field by making 10-of-45 shots for 22 percent.
St. Joseph visits Rose Hill on Thursday and hosts Trimble at noon on Saturday.
