NEW BOSTON — The South Point Lady Pointers came up clutch.
When New Boston put the Lady Pointers at the foul line in a fourth quarter comeback attempt, the Lady Pointers converted their foul shots as they posted a 59-50 win on Saturday.
South Point had a one-point lead going into the final quarter and connected on 10-of-14 free throws to pull away to the win.
“We didn’t make (free throws) earlier, but they put us on the line at the end and we were able to hit them,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Dave Adams.
Brooklyn Badgett scored 13 points and Emilee Whitt had 12 points to lead the Lady Pointers (8-6).
New Boston was led by Kaylee Stone with 15 points and Ali Hamilton had 12.
Stone scored eight points as New Boston took a 19-11 first quarter lead.
South Point rallied to tie the game 28-28 at the half as Kate Mundy scored five points including a 3-pointer and Madison Kearns added four points.
Badgett and Mundy hit 3-pointers in the third quarter as South Point took a 37-36 lead.
Whitt scored eight points in the fourth quarter with Badgett and Leah Lawson scoring five each. Stone hit a pair of triples and Hamilton had four points for New Boston
New Boston started to foul with two minutes left and put the Lady Pointers in the double bonus. Lawson and Badgett each went 3-of-4 and Whitt 2-of-2 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.
South Point hosts Chesapeake on Monday.
