NELSONVILLE — More headliners have been announced for one of southern Ohio’s largest music festivals.
In a third round of announcements, Jenny Lewis and They Might Be Giants have been named to play the Nelsonville Music Festival.
Lewis, who will perform on Saturday, June 3, is the former lead singer and guitarist of the band Rilo Kiley, and began her career as a child actress in the 1980s.
Her solo albums, such as “Rabbit Fur Coat” (recorded with the Watson Twins of Louisville, Kentucky) and “Acid Tongue,” have garnered critical acclaim.
Bryan Koscho, who handles marketing for Stuart’s Opera House, the organizer of the festival, said Lewis will perform with a full band in her first appearance at the event.
Alternative rock band They Might Be Giants, who will play on Friday, June 2, formed in 1982 and have maintained a devoutly-loyal following, most notably with their 1990 college radio hit album “Flood” and have gone on to release 19 albums.
Also announced in the latest round of performers are Shannon and the Clams, The Cactus Blossoms, Mr. Elevator, Jay Som, St. Lenox, Apple & The Moon, Chris Biester, Max Knouse and Cabell County, West Virginia band Ona.
Previously announced performers for the festival include headliners Ween, Emmylou Harris and Conor Oberst, as well as Mirah, Rodriguez, Cloud Nothings, Parquet Courts, Son Volt, Twin Peaks and Sara Watkins. Huntington-based musician Tyler Childers was also named in a previous list.
“We’ll have one more round of announcements,” Koscho said of plans for the event.
The festival, set for June 1-4, takes place on the campus of Hocking College in Nelsonville. For more information, go to www.nelsonvillefest.com.
