Victor Newman
July 8 1930 — March 11, 2017
Victor “Fred” Newman, 86, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. Mr. Newman was born July 8, 1930, in Lawrence County, a son to the late Charles Victor and Kathleen (Blank) Newman.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice ‘Tiny’ Holtzapfel Newman, whom he married June 13, 1959.
Mr. Newman was a 1948 graduate of Ironton High School and attended Ohio State University and graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Newman was a Navy veteran, as well as a former credit manager for Ashland Valvoline, retiring in 1992 with 32 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two aunts, Margerite Morris and Laura Turley; three brothers-in-law, Tom Neal, Joe Holtzapfel and Michael Holtzapfel; and a sister-in-law, Thalia Holtzapfel.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Victor F. (Debbie) Newman, II, of Columbus, and John A. (Laura) Newman, of Littleton, Colorado; daughter, Elizabeth A. Newman, of Lakewood, Colorado; granddaughter, Reese Willow Newman; cousins, Diana Kay (Howard) Scrader, Lollie (Brick) Rist and Kathy (Don) Connor; sisters-in-law, Janet “Patty” (Orion) Roadcup, Karen Neal, Rita (Tony) Patterson, Gerry Holtzapfel and Connie Holtzapfel; and brothers-in-law, Bob (Gail) Holtzapfel and Jim Holtzapfel.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military gravesite rites by VFW 8850 and visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donation be made to St. Joseph Schools Building Fund, PO Box 499, Ironton, Ohio 45638 or Community Hospice, 1538 Central Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101. Tom Bloomfield
Tom Bloomfield, 67, of Ironton, died on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Bloomfield. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, March 16, at Sharon Baptist Church, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton.
Daniel Long
Daniel L. Long, 73, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, died Friday, March 10, 2017, at the Sanctuary of Ohio Nursing Home in Ironton. His care has been entrusted to the brownfuneralchapel.org.
Lois Jackson
Lois Cole Jackson, 68, of South Point, died Friday, March 10, 2017, at home. A memorial service will be 7 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
