Danny Childers

Danny L. Childers, 65, of South Point, husband of Teresa Finley Childers, died Friday, March 17, 2017, at his home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Burial will follow in Baylous Cemetery, Salt Rock, West Virginia. Gloria Harper

Gloria R. Harper, 91, of Ironton, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017, at a local health care facility.
The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 14, 1925, a daughter of the late Earl and Roseavee Penrod Justice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilson N. Harper, whom she married Oct. 16, 1940 and who passed away in 1982.
Mrs. Harper attended Hanging Rock Schools and was a former employee for the Lawrence County General Hospital in housekeeping. She was a member of the New Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Orlan Harper and Earl Harper.
She is survived by four sons, Jerry (Kay) Harper, of Port Clinton, Ohio, David (Pam Pennington) Harper, Walling (Judy) Harper, both of Ironton, and Manuel (Jane) Harper, of Wheelersburg, Ohio; three daughters, Sheila Morris, of Ironton, Linda Vallance and Beverly Barnhart, both of Kitts Hill; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Harper, of Ironton.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sugar Creek Cemetery, with Brother Dave Schug officiating.  To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
