Same-day mail distribution begins Wednesday

Home delivery subscribers to The Tribune will now get their local news delivered right to their mailboxes.

“We are pleased to partner with the United States Postal Service for delivery to our subscribers,” General Manager Josh Morrison said. “For our customers, they should see a seamless transition in delivery, as their paper will still be delivered the same-day as it always has. So when subscribers go out to get their mail, that day’s edition of The Tribune will be there as well.”

“The postal service affords us the ability to continue to efficiently deliver the news to our subscribers because they are already going to each household in Lawrence County each day. The adjustment to our delivery method will allow us to continue to serve our readers with local news coverage and extend our investment back into the community.”

Mail delivery will start with Tuesday’s edition of the paper.

“We appreciate each of our independently contracted newspaper carriers and those who have assisted them in delivering the paper over the years” Morrison said. “We will be working with the carriers to make a seamless transition for each of them.”

With the transition, The Tribune will now be available at each of our single copy locations throughout Lawrence County earlier with papers being delivered by 8 a.m.

This also means that customers can now get their copy of The Tribune earlier and provide our advertising partners with the ability to reach a larger audience each day, Morrison said.

Readers of The Tribune will also get a jump on making their preparations for shopping and other purchases, as the Sunday edition will be a weekend edition that will be delivered with the Saturday mail.

“We value each of our readers of The Tribune and will remain steadfast in working hard each day to provide the highest priority on informing our customers with accurate and fair local coverage” Morrison said. “We feel that these changes will allow us to continue to serve our readers for decades to come while increasing our commitment to the needs of the communities we serve.”

Mail Conversion FAQ

Q: Why did The Tribune change from carriers to the United States Postal Service?

A: The postal service gives us the best option to deliver the daily newspaper in the most timely and cost-effective method. It allows guaranteed delivery each and every day and allows us to put more resources toward providing the best possible local news coverage and extend our ability to be a valuable community partner.

Q: When will I receive my newspaper?

A: You will receive the newspaper with your normal mail delivery.

Q: Will my subscription cost more?

A: No, our subscription rates have not changed. What you currently pay for your subscription to the paper today is what you will pay tomorrow.

Q: What if I do not receive my newspaper or do not receive it the same day?

A: Please contact the newspaper office first. We will check the status of your account before contacting the post office and working to get you that day’s paper.

Q: Will there be any change in news coverage or items in the newspaper?

A: Deadlines have adjusted for production and Saturday events will appear in the Monday edition. Our goal is still to provide the most up-to-date news possible for Lawrence County and surrounding areas through our print editions and digital platforms.

This change will allow us to focus more time and resources on presenting complete and comprehensive news reporting for the community and enhance our efforts in the communities we serve.

Q: Why the change from Sunday to Saturday delivery?

A: The change to a Saturday delivered Weekend edition is because the post office doesn’t deliver on Sundays. This also allows readers to get a jump-start on their purchases, as the weekend edition will come a day earlier.

Q: How will holidays affect newspaper delivery?

A: There are 10 postal holidays we will not be producing a newspaper: New Year’s Day,

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,

Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. However, we will still provide breaking news and general updates via our digital products.

Q: Will I still be able to get a copy of The Tribune in stores?

A: Yes, we have over 100 locations including gas stations, grocery stores and rack locations where you can purchase The Tribune, and now you will be able to pick up a copy by 8 a.m. each day.

Q: Can I still put my subscription on vacation hold or stop?

A: Yes, if you would like to stop your newspaper delivery while you are on vacation, please contact the newspaper. If you would like to put your newspaper on vacation hold (where you will receive the back issues of the papers), then you will need to contact the post office just like you would for your mail.

Q: Will my newspaper be delivered to my post office box?

A: Yes, just like your regular mail each day.

Q: What will happen to the newspaper carriers?

A: All have been provided a package that goes above and beyond the terms of their contracts.

Q: Who can I contact with questions or issues?

A: Please call our customer service department at 740-532-1441.
