CHESAPEAKE — Representatives from AEP donated $1,000 on Friday for the Sybene-Chesapeake Senior Center’s third annual Senior Day at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, set for May 16 in Rome Township.

Center director Darlene Green describes the event as “a celebration for our seniors,” and said the free festivities will include vendors, food and entertainment.

“It’s a chance for the seniors to see what’s out there that they might not be aware of,” she said.”

This is the second year AEP has contributed to the event, which drew hundreds last year.

“We are a citizen of each community we serve and we take an active part in its affairs,” AEP said in a statement. “Like any other citizen, we want our neighbors to think well of us. Besides, it makes good business sense. We prosper only as the community prospers, so we help thrive any way we can.”
