Events fund noble mission

Like many villages and cities throughout the country, those in Lawrence County certainly have felt the pinch of fleeting funding from the state seemingly every year. This goes for townships and other agencies like the Lawrence County Board of Developmental Disabilities, who receive, at least, a portion of their funding from the state or federal government.
While the funds being received have decreased, the board of DD still strives to provide the same level of service to their clients. As they have each March for many years, the organization hosts several events to raise funds and awareness for developmental disabilities, and this year is no different.
The annual chili cook-off will take place at Dawson-Bryant High School in the gym from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. this Saturday.
Eventgoers will be able to sample many varieties of chili from individuals and organizations from throughout the county.
These types of events are important for organizations like these throughout the county, as it affords the opportunity to continue to provide services while raising awareness for those with developmental disabilities.
If you are able, we encourage everyone to plan a visit to Dawson-Bryant High School on Saturday.
Support of these events is crucial to their continued success in serving those with developmental disabilities in Lawrence County.
