Brittany Boles

May 28, 1989 — March 17, 2017

Brittany Ellen Clark Boles, 27, of Pedro, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 17, 2017, in the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Mrs. Boles was born May 28, 1989, in Lexington, a daughter of Dennis and Regina Clark.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jaiden Marie Boles; paternal grandparents, William and Betty Clark; maternal grandparents, George and Freda Rice; grandfather-in-law, Glenn Robinson; and cousin, Ellen Michelle Boyles.
Brittany was a 2007 graduate of Russell High School and a graduate of the Ohio University Southern Nursing Program. She was a member of the Raceland Christian Church and held strong onto her faith. Brittany loved to craft and go hunting with her husband and daughter. She loved life wholeheartedly and continually rooted for the underdog, always lending a helping hand. Her life was filled with hopes and dreams that she shared with Mack and her family, who meant the world to her, and she never met a person who did not become a friend.
Left behind to carry on her legacy are her husband, McKinley Mack Boles IV; daughters, Ryleigh Nicole and McKinley Jade Boles; parents Dennis and Regina Clark; father and mother-in-law, Sherry and McKinley Boles III; grandmother-in-law, Nancy Robinson; aunts and uncles, Roger Clark, Jim (Mary) Clark, Glenda (Joe) Harlen, Kim (Ailene) Cope, Glen Robinson Jr. and Mason Robinson; cousins, Angie (Mark) Woods, Paula (Randy) Tackett, Tiffany (Bobby) Ross, Jessica (Ian) Brown, Rusty Rice, Justin (Angel) Rice, Douglas (Cyndi) Sammons and Lorie Cope; and a host of family, friends and patients who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ohio University Southern Campus in the Collins Center at 1804 Liberty Ave. Ironton, OH 45638. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. until the service hour in the Collins Center. Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods is caring for arrangements. Julia Murnahan

Julia Mae “Dupe” Murnahan, 84, died Saturday, March 18, 2017, at her home on Ora Richey Road, Ironton.  She was under the care of Community Hospice, and has battled breast cancer for an extended period of time.
Julia was born in Forestdale on Aug. 10, 1932, to the late Arthur E., Sr. and Ellen (Fields) Bryant, and her grandparents were the late Clarence and Missouri Mae (Steed) Bryant and the late Thomas and Julia Ann (Holliday) Fields.
Julia was married to Earl E. “Ike” Murnahan on May 24, 1952. Earl died Jan. 26, 2014.
Dawson-Bryant was the school from which Julia graduated in 1950. She also received her teaching degree from Ohio University. Teaching was the love of Julia’s life. She taught at Kitts Hill, Hocking Hills, and eventually retired from the Rock Hill school system in 1990. After retiring, she further helped organize several school libraries, including ones at Rock Hill, Ironton Elementaries, Open Door School and St. Lawrence.
Julia loved the Lord, and her church family at Freedom Baptist Church, where she was even one of the founding members. She had been a Sunday school teacher, VBS director, and on the Hospitality Committee for a number of years.
In addition to her husband, parents and grandparents, Julia was preceded in death by a brother, James “Jim” Bryant; an infant brother, Edward Bryant; a sister, Mary Haas; and a granddaughter, Angela Megan Kratzenberg.
She is survived by many loved ones including two daughters and sons-in-law, James and Kathy Kratzenberg, and Kevin and Kristy Stevens, both of Ironton; and one son, Mark Munahan, of Kitts Hill.
Also surviving are her six cherished grandchildren, Ryan Sites, Jonathan Sites, Rachel Stevens, Tyler Kratzenberg, Andrea Kratzenberg and Justin Stevens; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Sites, Adam Sites and Nicholas Sites; two brothers and sister-in-law, Thomas Jackson “Jack” and Margrit Bryant, of Holly Hill, Florida, and Arthur E. “Dunie” Bryant, Jr., of Ironton; two sisters and brother-in-law, Charles and Lucy Murray Brown, of Ironton, and Ruth Edwards Freeman, of South Point.
She also leaves behind a host of friends and family too numerous to name, who will miss her.

Misty Delong

July 20, 1978 — March 19, 2017

Misty Sue Delong, 38, of Pedro, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017, at her residence. The Ironton native was born July 20, 1978, a daughter of Sue Friend Markel of Pedro and the late Hank Markel. She is also survived by her loving husband, Mark Delong.
Misty was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and received her nursing degree from Collins Career Center. She was a LPN for Mended Reeds for over 10 years and was very active with school events. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved shopping and playing with her grandkids. She was a member of C3 (Cross Community Church) where she was very involved with all church functions.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Randi Markel.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by four daughters, Casey Delong, Alison Delong, McKinzie Delong and Jessica Delong, all of Pedro; one grandson, Gunner Dickess, of Pedro; two sons-in-law, Dustin Dickess and Jeff Ellis, both of Pedro; stepfather, Mike Stapleton, of Pedro; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jim and Trish Delong, of Pedro; grandfather, Larry Dust, of Pedro; and nieces and nephews, Alexis, Lainee, Kati, Riley, Axel, Mason, Mylah, Tanner, Triston, Mykel, and Ethan Delong, all of Pedro.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillip’s Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Trent Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Edward Maynard, Jr.

Edward Truman Maynard, Jr., 72, of Proctorville, died Friday, March 17, 2017, at home. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Jean Maynard.

Jennings Franklin Thompson, 80, of Chesapeake, died Monday, March 20, 2017, at home. He is survived by his wife, Diana Whitley Thompson.

Delbert Tennant

May 14, 1922 — March 20, 2017

Delbert E. Tennant, 94, of South Point, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017, at Jo-Lin’s Nursing Home in Ironton. Mr. Tennant was born May 14, 1922, in Hanging Rock, a son to the late Arthur D. and Mae (Hillman) Tennant.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice M.(Neal) Tennant.
Mr. Tennant was a 1941 graduate of Hanging Rock High School and a Veteran of World War II, proudly serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Tennant was a retired crane operator for Norfolk Southern Corporation.  He was a Boy Scout Leader for 25 years and a member Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene, where he served as the treasurer and board member for many years, and he was a lifetime honorary trustee for the church. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three infant children; brother, Charles Tennant; and great-grandson, Dane Patrick McMackin.
He is survived by son, Stephen “Steve” (Patty) Tennant, of Franklin Furnace; two daughters, Deborah (Butch) Deer, of Jackson, and Jane E. Holycross, of South Point; sister, Betty Mingus-Fields, of Nampa, Idaho; nine grandchildren,  Stephanie (Joshua) McMackin, Tiffany (T.J.) Waggoner, Christina (Eric) Harper, Bret (Chrissy) Barber, Neal Barber, Brian (Alison) Tennant, Kyle Tennant, Andy Deer and Cory Deer; 13 great-grandchildren; and special niece, Gail (David) Webb, of Kitts Hill.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene, Coal Grove, with the Rev. Butch Deer officiating. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery and visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church.
