Ohio University Southern Proctorville Center hosts biennial luncheon
PROCTORVILLE — The smell of home-cooked food filled the Proctorville Center of Ohio University Southern on Tuesday.
The Lawrence County Homemakers hosted an American Favorites luncheon for members of their three chapters.
The meal is a biennial event, alternating with the group’s quilt show, Ann Dobbins, of the Homemakers, said.
“Each year we do a theme,” she said of the potluck event. “In the past, we’ve done international foods. And we’ve done American holidays.”
About 40 members of the Ensee Homemakers, of the Proctorville area, the Ohio Valley Homemakers, of the South Point area, and the Southside Homemakers, of the Ironton region, enjoyed a lunch featuring items such as spaghetti, ribs, beans, mashed potatoes, salads and desserts.
“We invited family and friends to attend,” Dobbins said of the meal.
The next event on the Homemakers’ schedule is the Alzheimer’s Basics program, set for March 30 at the Proctorville Center.
The event will be hosted as a partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association and is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Those wishing to take part can call 740-710-1821.
Next month, the Homemakers will host their annual Achievement Day event on April 18 at the center, a showcase of their work for the year. Reservations are required to attend.
