Panthers suffer first loss of year

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Baseball has its ups and downs. Thursday was a downer for the Chesapeake Panthers.
After opening the season with two wins, the Panthers fell 11-1 to the Huntington Highlanders in five innings.
Casey McComas, Jamey Mills and Josh Hansen had singles for the Panthers’ three hits.
The Panthers got their only run in the second inning when Austin Browning walked, stole second, went to third on a ground out and scored when Josh Hampton was thrown out trying to bunt for a hit.
Chesapeake visits South Point at 5 p.m. on Friday.
