VANCEBURG, Ky. — Now that’s dominating.
Larry Morris turned in a stellar effort as he pitched a two-hit complete game with nine strikeouts and three walks as the Ironton Fighting Tigers beat the Lewis County Lions 2-0 on Thursday.
“Larry Morris pitched well. I’m very proud of him,” said Ironton coach Red Burcham.
“The kids responded well and played a good overall fundamental game with good pitching and solid defense.”
Ironton scored the only runs of the game in the first inning.
Garrett Carrico reached on an error to start the game and stole second. Dane Wilson followed with an RBI single and then Tanner Bowles belted a double that scored Wilson.
Wilson was 2-3 as Ironton had six hits.
“Dane Wilson had a couple of hits and made a couple of nice plays in the field,” said Burcham. “Overall it was a great team win.”
Ironton hosts Portsmouth on Friday.
