Genealogy event set for June

RACELAND — An event, set for June, will give people the opportunity to find their roots.

The Discover Your Family genealogy program is set for 7 p.m. June 10, at the John P. Stephens Cultural Arts Center at Raceland High School.

For the event, three local celebrities, Mary Cat Flath, an ACTC professor, the Roger Reed family, of Reed Funeral Home, and Julie Reeves, a country singer and radio personality, along with three individuals randomly selected from applications, will use the library’s genealogy collection to uncover their ancestry.

The program is being conducted as a partnership between The Boyd County Public Library genealogy department and the Poage Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.

Tickets for the event are $5 and can be purchased at the Boyd County Library, Consigned Books in Ironton, Stultz’s Pharmacy in Flatwoods and Greenup.

A silent auction is also scheduled.

All Proceeds will benefit the Poage Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
