COAL GROVE — The Rock Hill Redwomen haven’t play many games on the road so far this season, but they didn’t seem to be out of their elements on Monday.
The Redwomen banged out 16 hits as they beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 7-4 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Rock Hill scored a run with two outs in the top of the first when Gracie Stevens doubled and Anna Darby singled.
Coal Grove answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Lauren Meyer walked, Gracie Riley reached on an error and Kasey Murphy had an RBI single. With two outs, Mckenzie Moore doubled home two runs.
The Redwomen tied the game in the third.
Jill Hairston doubled and Stevens singled her home. Darby reached on a fielder’s choice, Samantha Stamper walked and Baylie Harrah had an RBI single.
The Redwomen took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth to go up 6-3.
Madison Harper singled, Taylor Hall was safe on an error and Kelsey Olderham put down a sacrifice bunt. Rileigh Morris delivered a two-run single, Hairston singled and Stevens had an RBI single.
Coal Grove got a run in the fifth when Meyer singled and went to third on an error. Riley grounded out as the run scored.
The Redwomen got the run back in the seventh on singles by Harper and Olderham.
Hairston got the win as she struck out six, walked two and gave up six hits.
Stevens went 4-4 with a double and two RBI to lead Rock Hill. Hairston was 2-5 with a double, Morris 2-5 with two RBI, Harper went 3-4 and Darby was 2-3 with an RBI.
Murphy went 2-3 with an RBI and Moore 1-3 with a double and RBI for Coal Grove.
Rock Hill entertains Portsmouth on Tuesday and Coal Grove hosts Portsmouth on Wednesday.
