Ironton got pitching and hitting.
Again.
After a 14-2 win on Tuesday, the Fighting Tigers beat the Fairland Dragons 13-3 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday.
“Tanner Bowles pitched pretty well and we hit the ball again,” said Ironton coach Red Burcham.
Bowles worked three innings for the win. He struck out two, walked none and did not give up a hit.
Ironton (9-2-1, 6-1-1) had 11 hits led by Kyle Kleinman who was 3-4 with a double and three RBI. Gage Salyers was 2-3 with a double and three RBI and Brycen Thomas was 3-3 with a double and an RBI.
Ironton scored two in the first inning.
Garrett Carrico reached on an error, stole second and scored on a double by Thomas and Salyers followed with an RBI single.
Fairland took a 3-2 lead in the top of the second.
Tayton Hunt singled, Dylan Raines and Lawson reached on errors and Tucker Adkins walked to force in a run.
Ironton tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning when Joel Blankenship singled, stole second and came home on Thomas’ base hit.
Ironton took the lead for good with three runs in the third.
Kleinman, Ethan Duncan and Larry Morris all singled for two runs. Blankenship reached on an error as a run scored.
The Fighting Tigers went up 8-3 in the fourth. Thomas singled, Wilson was hit by a pitch and Salyers had an RBI double. Kleinman was safe on an error as a run scored.
Ironton ended the game with five runs in the fifth.
Carrico was hit by a pitch and Thomas, Wilson and Salyers all walked for a run. Kleinman doubled for two runs. Morris grounded out for a run and a wild pitch scored the fifth run.
Ironton visits Gallipolis on Thursday.
