Job news is welcome

It is no secret that the Tri-State has been hit hard over the last few years with coal, steel, railroad and other industrial jobs either relocating or going away all together. However, the region got a bit of good news this week when Braidy Industries, an aluminum manufacturing company, announced they were building a $1.3 billion facility in South Shore that is projected to bring 500 new jobs to the area.
We have been fortunate to have places like The Point Industrial Park in South Point which has done a good job of fostering a quality location for companies to start or expand their businesses.
The economic outlook hasn’t been the brightest over the last few years, but shots in the arm like the Braidy Industries announcement and any others can certainly put a light at the end of the tunnel.
We applaud the work that the economic development, county officials and business owners have done to get as many jobs back in our area as possible.
Industrial type jobs have been the backbone of Lawrence County and the region for hundreds of years, and we are hopeful these types of good news continue to come back to our residents.
