Editorial: Market vital to Community

Last Saturday, the Ironton Farmers Market opened downtown for its fifth year and has served hundreds, if not thousands, of customers.
In the last half-decade, the market has grown immensely in popularity and offerings, and afforded many the opportunity to work directly with the growers and producers of the products being purchased.

But it is not just about purchasing products, the market also offers the ability to have  fellowship with one another every Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m-3 p.m., from now until October.

Additionally, the market offers special events throughout the season like concerts, health fairs and bike rodeos, just to name a few, so the market truly has something for everyone.

While the economy in Lawrence County has been down, it is important that we continue to think locally when it comes to our shopping, whether it is groceries, clothing or shoes, landscaping or a variety of other items.

We must always look to support one another, as that is the only thing that is going to bring our communities back and move us toward a prosperous future.
