Richard Rust
Oct. 14, 1940 — June 9, 2017
Mr. Richard Allen Rust, 76, of Ironton passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
The Ironton native was born Oct. 14, 1940 a son to the late John and Harriett (Rutledge) Rust. Mr. Rust was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy (Layne) Rust, who passed away in 2006.
Mr. Rust was a graduate of Ironton High School. Richard went on to serve in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Rust is survived by two sons, Karl (Kimberly Gullett) Rust and Jamie Blevins, both of Ironton; four grandkids, Troy Rust, Molly Rust, Versie Fannin and Cole Blevins; two sisters, Nancy (Roger) Fannin, of Cincinnati, and Johnda Wells, of Huntington; a sister in-law, Frances Rust; a brother in-law, Roger Collins; and the mother of his grandchildren, Kathy Rust.
In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie and William Rust; and a sister, Denise Collins.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton, with Pastor Darrell Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post #8850.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Gerald Freeman
May 22, 1951 — June 5, 2017
Gerald Francis Freeman, 66, of Lilburn, Georgia passed away Monday, June 5, 2017.
Gerald was born May 22, 1951 in West Virginia, the son of Patricia Jean Stallings Freeman, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and the late Gerald R. Freeman.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lowell and Rachel Hackney Craddock of Charleston, West Virginia.
Gerald was a retired Microbiologist, U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the D.A.V.
In addition to his mother, Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Jane Craddock Freeman; son, LT Tim Craddock U.S. Navy; one brother, Al (Marilyn) Freeman. of Parkersburg; three nephews, Ken (Kate) Craddock, of Charleston, West Virginia, Gerald Allen Freeman, of Philippi, West Virginia, and Kevin Freeman of Weston, West Virginia; one niece, Karrie Freeman Troccoli of Round Rock, Texas; a great niece, Adeline Craddock; and numerous other great nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home, 313 Big Branch Road, Chesapeake by Pastor Daniel Morikone. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday before the funeral service.
Burial will follow in Burlington-Greenlawn Cemetery, South Point. Proctorville VFW Post # 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.schneiderhallfuneralhome.com.
Gertrude Carmon
Dec. 26, 1932 — June 9, 2017
Gertrude Caroline “Bean” (Kerns) Carmon, 84, of Pedro passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
The Lawrence Co. native was born Dec. 26, 1932 a daughter to the late Charles Franklin “Frank” and Goldie (Aldridge) Kerns.
Mrs. Carmon was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Carmon, who passed away in October 2007.
Mrs. Carmon was a homemaker who loved her family dearly. She also worked with her husband in the family owned Carmon’s Game Room.
Gertrude is survived by a daughter, Valerie (Steven) DePriest, of Pedro; two grandchildren, Cara and Stephanie DePriest; a sister, Sharon Waller Mays, and a beloved cat, “pip squeak.”
In addition to her husband and parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by a son, Michael Carmon; four sisters, Hazel Townsend, Frances Pete Besco, Minnie Mae Arden and Vernon Mannon; two brothers: Dorman Kerns and Frank “Punk” Kerns.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday at Puckett Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.

Wayne Harmon
Nov. 24, 1940 — June 8, 2017
Wayne Harmon age 76, of Ironton, , died Thursday June 8, 2017 at Ashland Community Hospice.
He was born Nov. 24, 1940 to the late William and Georgie Large Harmon. He was the husband of Carol King Harmon. He was retired after 35 years at the Ironton Intermet as an iron pourer He was a member of St Lawrence O’Toole Church Ironton.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Harmon, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kim and Tony Addis, of Ironton; grandchildren, Cody Baker and Owen Wayne Conway, both of Cincinnati, Josh Addis, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Kyle and Thu Addis, of Cyprus, Texas, and one great grandchild, Lucy Kim Addis.
He was preceded by Curt Harmon, Leslie Harmon and David Harmon.
His surviving sisters are Sandra Moore, Connie Hanshaw, Ruth Gillenwater and Betty Hankins. Surviving brothers are William Harmon and Ralph Harmon.
Visitation will be at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home 9-10:30a.m. Monday. Funeral will be Monday at noon at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church Ironton with father David Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Ronda Howard
Oct. 6, 1939 — June 7, 2017
Ronda Alice Howard, age 77 of South Point, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on June 7, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Howard was born Oct. 6, 1939 in Huntington, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Lawrence Eugene Fennell and Ruby Thelma Pinson Cotton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jarvie Howard; infant son, John Matthew Howard; daughter, Kimberly Thomas; and brother, Kenneth Fennell.
She is survived by four daughters, Kathy Roberts, of South Vienna, Ohio, Rachel Duty, of Worthington, Kentucky, Leah Howard, of South Point, and April Howard, of Newark, Ohio; one sister, Donna Wilson, of South Point, Ohio; five grandchildren, Rodger Heflin, Jarvie Heflin, Amy Uhl, Cambrea Rayburn and Logan Rayburn; and numerous great grandchildren, as well as step-children and step-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Burial Park, Ashland, with Pastor Paul Toney officiating. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
Charles Salyers
June 28, 1948 — June 6, 2017
Charles Edward “Eddie” Salyers, 68, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV.
The Lawrence County native was born June 28, 1948, a son of the late Challie Salyers Jr. and Ruth E. Jayne (George) Wood.
Eddie was a 1967 graduate of Ironton High School and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a former dog warden for Lawrence County, retiring in 2002. He was also a former employee of Wellcraft Marin Inc. in Florida and the Frank Fichter Funeral Home. He loved to fish and spend time with his grandchildren. He was also a member of the VFW Post #8850.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Jamie Lynn Reed.
He is survived by two daughters, Amy Lynn (Billy Haynes) Willis and Angie (Jeff) Haynes, both of Kitts Hill; five grandchildren, Austin Willis, Amanda Haynes, Amylia Haynes, Shelby Haynes and Hunter Haynes; a great grandchild, Addison Wilson; a sister, Pamela (Jim) Salyers Reed, of Ironton; and a niece, Jessica (Wes) Spurlock, of South Point.
Memorial service will be noon Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, with Pastor Brad Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Veterans Section Woodland Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the V.F.W. Post #8850.
