Six seniors to be honored, auction to be held
CHESAPEAKE — The Sybene-Chesapeake Senior Center has a number of events scheduled for the coming weeks.
A Father’s Day celebration will take place at the center, located in a modular unit beside the Chesapeake Community Center, on Friday, starting at 10 a.m., director Darlene Green said.
On that same day, she said the center would honor six seniors who are set to move into the new Proctor’s Landing senior living apartments in Proctorville.
The center will host an auction on Friday, June 23 at 10 a.m. Green said the proceeds will go toward paying for activities, such as group trips, at the center.
On June 30, the center will host its monthly “Our Day” dinner at First Baptist Church in Proctorville, featuring free food and entertainment.
In addition, Green said the center hosts a weekly Bible study on Wednesdays, starting at 10:45 a.m.
The senior center will be moving soon to the first floor of the Proctor’s Landing building.
Green said no specific date has been set yet, but she expects it to take place in about two weeks.
