John Nichols

June 22, 1933 — June 16, 2017

John E. Nichols, 83, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ashland, Kentucky native was born June 22, 1933, a son of the late John H. and Vada McPeek Nichols. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patty J. Waddle Nichols, who passed away Aug. 15, 2010.
Mr. Nichols attended Paul Blazer High School and was a retired employee for the City of Ashland-Floodwall Department. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by a brother, Don (Phyllis) Nichols, of Coal Grove.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Joe William Anthony officiating. Burial will follow in Junior Furnace Cemetery and visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
