Learning should not stop

The academic year for Lawrence County students ended a few weeks ago, but that does not mean education for students has to end.
Several options exist for children and teens to enrich themselves during the summer months, while still having fun at the same time.
One example in the region is the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, which offers an annual summer camp for the arts.
The sessions, open from preschool up to high school seniors, give students a chance to explore the fine arts and related fields.
Camp sessions are available in three one-week classes, ranging from drawing, arts and crafts, theater, dance, cooking and more.
Several members of the Paramount team, now teaching some of the courses, said they were shown the possibilities of the arts while taking the classes as children.
The fine arts classes are but one of many educational experiences available to children throughout the region.
Learning does not have mean kids are confined to desks and a classroom, and programs like this are to be commended for the worthwhile activities they involve.
