Laura Dutey

May 31, 1935 — June 29, 2017

Laura Jean Dutey, 82, of Coal Grove, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. Mrs. Dutey was born May 31, 1935, in Kenova, West Virginia, a daughter to the late Wetzel and Opal (Hutchinson) Ross.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ray “Moose” Dutey, whom she married April 29, 1955.
Mrs. Dutey was a 1953 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School. She was a former employee of Wilson’ Sporting Goods, Sear’s and the Lawrence County Recorder’s Office. Mrs. Dutey was an active member of Zoar Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a teacher for the Toddler’s Sunday School Class, Girls Youth Group, Vacation Bible School, Church Camps and the Outdoor Nativity Drama. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Leah Rae Dutey; son, Keith Allen Dutey; sister, Anna Mae Hysell; and two brothers, Carl Ross and James Ross.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Debra (Tim) Lucas and Cristi (Wes) Gossett; four grandchildren, Rae-Lyn (Phillip) Robinson, Leann (T.R.) Wissman, Shane Gossett and Aaron (Tessa) Gossett; five great-grandchildren, Kye Robinson, Gavin Wissman, Bowen Gossett, Finn Gossett and Ty Gossett; sister, Anita Sheppard; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Zoar Missionary Baptist Church, Coal Grove, with the Rev. Jim Beals and Dr. Kevin Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery. Thelma Irene Black, 91, of Proctorville, died Thursday, June 29, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, with pastor Carl Black and pastor Jason Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.
