David Knipp

Dec. 24, 1942 — July 1, 2017

David Stevenson Knipp, 74, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017, at his residence.  Mr. Knipp was born Dec. 24, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son to the late Fred C. and Mona Sturgill Knipp.  He is survived by his wife, Donna Kaye Payton Knipp, whom he married July 10, 1990.
Mr. Knipp was a 1961 graduate of Rock Hill High School and a United States Army veteran, serving for 24 years and four weeks, where he also served in the Vietnam War. He was a retired security guard from Wackenhut. He was a member of Lorain Street Gospel Mission Church. He was a member of the VFW Post 8850 and loved working puzzles, bluegrass and country music, western movies, motorcycles and his church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Elfrieda Maria Basler Knipp, who passed away in 1985; daughter, Cindy Kaye Bostick; son, William Darryl Hewitt; two sisters, Betty Lee and Brenda Hackworth; brother-in-law,  Thomas Barton; sister-in-law, Glenna Knipp; and two nephews, Jason Levi and Timothy John.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Regina Karen (Edi) Knipp Henn; three sons, Ronald (Cyndi) Knipp, Thomas (Teresa) Knipp and Robert (Barbara) Knipp; siblings, Calvin (Arnetta) Knipp, Homer Knipp, Freddie (Karen) Knipp, Peggy (Eddie) Hill, Glenna (Wally) Rice, Alva (Carol) Knipp, Tim (Carolyn) Knipp, Tom (Cindy) Knipp, Philip Knipp, Debra Barton, Sabra (Trace) Steele, Jean Knipp, Jane (Patrick) Whitt and James Ray Knipp.; brother-in-law, Garnet Lee; grandchildren, Dennis, Jennifer, Alyssa, Lisa, Kelly, Amanda, Racheal, Leah Grace, Tom, Elfrieda, Doug, David Michael, Brian, Luke, Tara and Dustin; and special friends, Matthew, Tanya and Matt Bailey.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Lorain Street Gospel Mission Church, Ironton, with pastor John Paul Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Jacqueline Thomas

Jacqueline (Jackie) Green Thomas, 69, of Pedro, made her journey home Friday, June 30, 2017, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her family at her side. She was born Feb. 24, 1948, a daughter of the late Agnus Marie Hunter Green and the late George Green. She attended New Beginnings Church in Chesapeake, and loved her family and the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jo Ann Boyles and June Green.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerry Thomas whom she married on July 4, 1965; a daughter, Judy Thomas; two sons, Jerry and Jody Thomas; a sister, Judy Stewart; four grandchildren, Sam Huff, Jessy Thomas, Kelly Thomas Hackworth and Frank Thomas; nine great-grandchildren, Devon Bundy, Aaralyn Huff, Gaige Bruce, Landon and Noah Thomas, Emmy and Madison Lewis, Ashlee Lacey and Karley Ann Hackworth; cousin, David Smith; special friends, Ronnie and Cami Gaffney; her goobers, Nipper and Rebel; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Brown Funeral Chapel, Ironton, with the Rev. Willard Blankenship, the Rev. Kenneth Jiles, the Rev. Tom Jones and the Rev. Mark Stamper officiating. There will also be special singing.
Keeping with Jackie’s wishes, she will be cremated after the services. A reception will follow services on Friday at the Isaac Walton Lake.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Wilma Gibbs

Wilma E. Gibbs, 85, of South Point, died Monday, July 3, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Leo Gibbs. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Anna Dray

Anna Mae Dray, 46, of South Point, died Sunday, July 2, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. There will be private family services. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
