Many made holiday success

Over the Independence Day weekend, many in the Tri-State took part in celebration of the nation’s birth and took advantage of the summer weather.
Fortunately, there were many options throughout the region at no cost, from Family Fun Days in Coal Grove, to Summer Motion in Ashland, to South Point’s Party in the Park.
Pulling off these annual events is no small feat, and the hard work of volunteers and organizers is to be commended.
Coal Grove’s event, organized by the village and the Coal Grove Betterment Club, is now in its fourth decade, offering entertainment, food and vendors.
And the financial support of local businesses for these events is much needed and appreciated.
Too often, the news is filled with negative stories. The fact that the holiday weekend showed there was a abundance of family-friendly options for all to enjoy is a true blessing to our region that should not be taken for granted.
Here’s to many more years of these community activities.
